The Tower stands.
Roses in bloom.
Can’-Ka No Rey,
we’ll reach it soon.
Low men in yellow coats
try to bar the way.
All hail Discordia!
Crimson King’s on his way!
Never fear Sai!
Gunslingers got your back.
Tet has your flank.
You, breaker lead the attack!
Once the Tower’s in sight
and the quest comes an end,
when you reach the top
Begin again.
As I was writing this, I started laughing to myself thinking ‘boy, you are going to have A LOT of explaining to do!’ I really like this poem though so here goes!
As some of you know, Stephen King is one of my favorite horror authors and I’ve taken a large portion of my inspiration for that genre from his writing. King’s magnum opus The Dark Tower series is especially fascinating to me. It’s that land that I’ve taken a seed from to create this poem.
The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain. He is the last gunslinger on another world. For there are other worlds than these! He is traveling across his world’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice where all worlds converge, known as The Dark Tower.
The Tower lies dead center in a massive field of eternally blooming red roses known as Can’-Ka No Rey (the red fields of none). The Tower is held up by six beams. If they fell, the Tower would fall and destroy existence itself because all worlds lie along the beams.
Low men in yellow coats(inhuman furry creatures in human suits)employed by The Crimson King(the bad guy)have gathered those with extraordinary mental powers to be used under force to break the beams in the name of Discord. Thus they are called Breakers.
Many Breakers escaped the concentration camp they were held in and returned with reinforcements to dismantle the operation and save the Tower.
**Are you still with me at this point? Thank you for those that are! Bear with me just a tiny bit longer and hopefully you will understand my poem!**
Roland calls his group of friends a Ka-tet. A group bound together by fate to achieve a common goal. Ka, meaning destiny, + tet, meaning group.
He finally reaches the Tower in the end. When he climbs the stairs inside to the top, he finds a door marked with his own name and opens it. Roland instantly realizes that he has reached the Tower countless times before.
Roland then awakens as he has many times before, at the beginning of his quest. He has no memory of ever visiting the Tower. Yet, as he always does, he throws his all into reaching his beloved Tower.
All this to say, don’t give up on your quest! No matter how discouraged you get, remember the powerful breaker you are! Keep using those powers for good, and don’t lose sight of that tower looming in the distance! You will make it there!
“All things serve the beam!”-Stephen King
What is your Dark Tower? Is there a Crimson King standing in your way? What power can you use to clear the way?
Fascinating and mind boggling and all I can think of to say to you at 4.38 am is someone that can put together words in this way has a very special gift that should be cosseted and nourished and flourished to it’s full potential. Nothing is ever going to stand in your way , best of luck on your continuing journey what you have in your mind will take you to places you have never thought possible!🤗
Hey. Hey. My dark tower is maintaining harmony, joy and peace in my heart/life. As the days unfold I have better days, other days (horrific ones), mediocre days and tired days. I believe I have more better days when I stick to getting up early and doing my daily devotional and prayer walks early. But I allow too much in to disturb my evenings and my sleep. If I stick to a good schedule and get enough good sleep, I can have wonderful days. But I'm still too easily distracted so my goal is to be better at guarding my bodies need for rest.
